In our new course, taught by Katie Morris, you will learn the fundamentals of Silhouette Paint. The course begins with an introduction of the paint interface and an overview of the Paint Tools and Auto Paint. The subsequent five classes focus on two shots, one a facial dot marker removal shot and the other a wire removal and plate reconstruction shot.
Planned for release in the first half of 2021, part two of the course will include classes on the Silhouette Paint plugin, beauty paint, usage of the new Mocha Pro PowerMesh feature inside of Silhouette, and more. Katie Morris is a VFX Digital Paint and Roto Artist with extensive experience in the visual eEffects film industry. She has worked on over 82 VFX feature films including Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III, all five Transformers films, Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow and most recently on season two of The Mandalorian. Katie has also collaborated on KMFX Scripts, a collection of open source custom scripts for Silhouette 2020.

An in-depth look at the Paint window and the Paint node, as well as the options for painting in the alpha channel. Shot approach, point tracking and all the ways to set your clone source.
Class 5: Clone Painting, Auto Paint and Regraining
Learn how to paint out facial dot markers with tracking assist and hand painting. Lots of clone painting with Auto Paint. Finally, shot finishing with selective sharpening and regraining.
Class 6: Wire Removal, Part 1
The first part of the wire removal shot. See how to use a DOD to create an oversized clean plate, utilize the Mocha Pro plugin for tracking, create Sessions to make an organized workflow while building your comp.
Class 7: Wire Removal, Part 2
How to paint out wires with the source Match Move technique and paint in a stabilized view. Learn methods to paint out wires frame by frame and use the interactive mode to help reconstruct missing parts of the plate. It all comes together in this final class.
