The most overlooked skill to hone as a CG and FX artist is compositing. With it, you can take a plain-looking raw FX pass and make it shine! That’s where the power of Nuke comes into play…
Nuke is the industry-standard compositing program and is (in our opinion) the best tool on the market. In this course, we’ll show you how to use Nuke from the ground up. You don’t need any experience prior to this class as we will cover the basics starting in week 1.
Week by week we will build our knowledge of Nuke as the shots increase in complexity and variety. In the final weeks, we will be compositing several fully CG shots! This is your opportunity to composite ground-breaking FX.
WEEK 1 – COMPOSITING BASICS
This week, we’re going to kick things off with the compositing basics.
WEEK 2 – SCREEN REPLACEMENT
In this week, we’re going to work on keying and screen replacements inside Nuke.
WEEK 3 – GREEN SCREEN
This week, we are going to work with a character green screen shot and take a deep-dive into advanced keying techniques.
WEEK 4 – KEYING TECHNIQUES
This week, we are going to work with a character green screen shot and take a deep-dive into advanced keying techniques.
WEEK 5 – 3D COMPOSITING
This week, we’ll take a look at combining digital 3D assets together inside Nuke. This will show you how to comp 100% digital assets
WEEK 6 – WORKFLOWS
This week will unlock new challenges including atmospheres, optical FX, workflows with proxies, ray renders, and gizmo hacking.
WEEK 7 – SHOCKWAVES
This week, we’re back to our scene to spice things up with some glitch, shockwaves, and more.
WEEK 8 – SPACESHIP CRASH
In this week, we’re going to create the iconic crashed spaceship scene from our course.
