Lesson 1 Substance Basics
Here Javier will cover the basics of Substance Designer. After going through the UI and its features, you’ll become familiar with all the nodes that will help you to craft your projects. Lastly, the Tile Sampler node will take center stage, and you will see the limitless potential of this powerful tool. By the end of this Lesson you will have created your own set of bricks or concrete tiles.
Lesson 2 Hard Surface
Now that you’ve learned how to create organic shapes, you will apply those same principles to design hard surface metal paneling. You’ll also create singular one-off pieces which can be added to your main graph. Then, you will expose the graph’s parameters so you can easily customize various settings going forward.
Lesson 3 Full Production
In this Lesson you will begin creating your final Substance material, integrating all the things you’ve learned so far. After this, you’ll learn how to organize your graphs for future use, a necessary skill when working professionally as part of a team. By the end of this Lesson you’ll be ready to bring your textures into Marmoset.
Lesson 4 Presentation
In this final Lesson, you will take your completed material and render it inside of Marmoset. Here you’ll see how much of a difference lighting and post-processing can make for your presentations. As a bonus, you will also learn how to render your material in Unreal. By the end of this Lesson, you will have multiple polished images for your portfolio.
